Japan Has 24 Million Visitors in 2016

Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) announced last month that the number of travelers who visited the country in 2016 was 24.04 million people.

The number of visitors to your past has been the highest since 1964 when JNTO started to set the statistics. According to the data of the past year, the number of visitors to the country for the last three years increased by a factor of 2.4. The factors that brought about this significant increase are as well as promotional activities to attract tourists, as well as international conferences and events.

JNTO last year in August to attract tourists to Japan, the overseas press has been active in the Japan Online Media Center (JOMC), a platform that helps Japan promote tourist destinations. Through the JOMC, four seasons of the squares are introduced to other countries about the touristic regions, food and culture of the country.

Japan is drawing attention to the growing demand for tourism due to the influence of international events such as the 2019 Rugby World Cup and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

JNTO will continue to add content to the JOMC website and enrich the site.

Japan aims to host as many as 40 million tourists to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games.
